In case you haven't heard about this camp from someone - this is a GREAT ART CAMP! Our summer camps aren't your usual cookie-cutter art camps, and we don't take hundreds of campers each summer. We only offer 5 weeks of camps and have max 12 campers per week, so each student gets lots of attention and personal instruction. And, we create seriously awesome projects! Pictured at left are just some of our past summers' artworks by students. There's always glass fusing projects, glass mosaics and stained glass, but we also work with other media; in past camps we've done metal smithing, acrylic & watercolor paints, paper decoupage, polymer clays, wire for sculpture, embroidery, pyrography, alcohol inks and henna. In addition to glass projects, our students have made hammered copper jewelry, created an outdoor mosaic installation, painted silk scarves, made garden art and monoprinted greeting cards.
No mistake about it, we are MAKERS! Students will learn how to use glass cutting tools and grinders, drills, soldering irons as well as traditional art media.
**NEW: Teen Stained Glass Intensive: First time offering this intensive. Aug. 5-9, noon to 4:00 each day. Open to ages 13 and up. Students will select a stained glass pattern with 30+ pieces (same kind of patterns made by my adult stained glass students). Students will hand copy pattern, cut out templates, cut/shape/grind every piece, copper foil and solder. This intensive is perfect for past campers who have done stained glass projects with us; also good for newbies who are focused, interested in learning a craft that requires attention to detail, good with their hands and are mature enough to work on a project that'll take 20+ hours to complete. Please note: students will use solder that contains lead. We have a very well ventilated studio, with air purifiers and fume extractor machines at the soldering stations. Students will wear latex gloves when soldering. We have non-leaded solder if requested (it's what we use with the regular campers, doesn't melt as easily and doesn't patina).
